Interview Questions

Call center / BPO interview process is listed in this blog. People who are looking for a career in a BPO / Call Center can go through this blog to prepare for the interview

BPO stands for Business Process Outsourcing. It is the outsourcing of business functions or processes to a third party. This industry provides greater job opportunities to unemployed youth. There are many MNCs working in Hyderabad and other cities. This is one of the very few industries which provide a good position and income even for a normal graduate. However, it is not easy to get a job in a BPO/call center. It requires good communication skills and English language. I want to share the interview process in this blog which might help the people who are looking for a BPO job.
There might be 3-5 rounds of interview depending upon the company's requirement. In general
 Round I
 1) JAM Session : This is the word which troubles many people. JAM session is just a minute session. Here the interviewer will ask us to speak on a topic for a minute. Sometimes they will give us the topic otherwise we can choose our own topic. While you speak on the topic, the interviewer will observe your accent, your grammar, pronunciation and formation of sentences. Try to keep the sentences short. Don’t use long sentences and complex language. They general look for simple English. Be prepared on few topics before going to the interview. Here are few topics which are asked more frequently.
What is your favorite color ?
  • What is your Favorite movie ?
  • Who is your Role Model?
  • What was your most memorable/unforgettable moment ?
  • What is your favorite holiday spot?
  • Hyderabad Traffic
  • Arranged Marriages / Love Marriages
  • Describe your hometown or Hyderabad
This is the most important round. Once you are done with this round you are almost done. Some times they might ask you personal information like " Tell me about yourself " before JAM session.
 Round II :
HR Round: They will try to know about you in detail.
Tell me about your self : Give your name education, work experience. If you have previous experience they will ask about your work details and reason for leaving the company.
 Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths like : Positive Attitude / Hard working / Willing to learn / short learning curve for new assignments / Ability to work effectively, individually as well as in a team environment.
Weaknesses : Don’t tell any weakness. Show some strengths as a weakness. Eg : when i take up a project, I forget everything.. I don’t take food on time... some things like that..
Then they will ask for your previous CTC and expected CTC.
 Round III :
Opp. Manager Round : The Opp. Manager will explain about the process and ask you some questions related to the work. They might want to know if you are willing to work for a long time .. may be more than 2-3 years..
If you are applying for Tech Support, then there will be a technical round.
Technical Round :
Technical round will consist of 3-4 sections.
i) Hardware : Basic components of the system like processor, ram, graphics card, sound card, network card etc..
ii) Operating system : You might get some of these questions in this under Operating system issues.
  • Difference between operating systems like windows XP and windows Vista
  • System Restore
  • MSConfig
  • NTLDR missing
  • Boot Failure etc..
  • Network Issues :
  • IP address
  • Internet Issues
  • Network troubleshooting
  • DNS, DHCP etc
  • Applications :
  • Antivirus
  • Internet Browsers
  • Office Applications etc
Once you are done , you will get the offer letter. Many companies have walk-ins. You can go directly to the company. You can also register in job sites. Consultancies will contact you when there are any opening.
